Pokhara's hotel and restaurant businesses have introduced discount packages targeting passengers of flyDubai's new direct Dubai-Pokhara-Dubai flight which begins today's evening, offering up to 25 percent off hotel stays and up to 20 percent off at partner restaurants.
Landing an international carrier at Pokhara International Airport was a long-sought goal for Gandaki Province's tourism industry; now local businesses are trying to make sure the route survives past its early months by giving passengers a direct financial reason to choose and to return to Pokhara.
Hotel Association Pokhara president Laxman Subedi said a 25 percent discount has been arranged for flyDubai passengers and tourists at Pokhara hotels for the first three months of the route. He said around 50 hotels have joined the discount scheme so far, with more expected to be added, and that the participating hotels range from tourist-standard properties to some star hotels. Passengers arriving on Wednesday evening's inaugural flight from Dubai will be offered a free night's stay and complimentary breakfast the following morning, Subedi said.
Nepal's Civil Aviation Authority approved the route in June 2026, and the first flight landed at Pokhara International Airport at 6:15 pm Wednesday before departing back to Dubai at 7:15 pm the same evening.
Officials say the route could encourage other international carriers to consider flying to Pokhara.
