Nepal establishes diplomatic relations with Grenada

In a brief signing at Nepal's UN mission, Nepal quietly added its 186th diplomatic relationship with a Caribbean island most Nepalis have never heard of.

Nepal formally established diplomatic relations with Grenada on Tuesday, with Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal and Grenada's Finance Minister Dennis Cornwall signing a joint communiqué at Nepal's UN Permanent Mission.

Including Grenada, Nepal's total diplomatic relationships now counts to 186 countries.

The two ministers agreed to cooperate on sustainable development goals progress, climate change response, and sharing best practices in tourism and education.

The signing was one of several engagements for Khanal in New York that day, including meetings on US-Nepal investment ties and Bhote Koshi flood recovery support, alongside a reception hosted by President Trump for UN General Assembly delegation heads.
