Nepal’s West Asia emergency line is still running, but no new change has been confirmed

If a relative in West Asia needs urgent help, Nepal’s Foreign Ministry still has a 24-hour emergency line and an online registration form.

The ministry’s website continues to show the same arrangements set up earlier this year, and no new announcement changing the contacts, the response team or evacuation policy has been found.

The contacts

The ministry lists three numbers for its Emergency Control Room: +977 9744441227, +977 9744441228 and +977 9744441229. The email is [email protected]. People can reach the room by phone, WhatsApp, Viber, Botim, message or email. The official page says it operates 24 hours a day.

Nepalis in the region, and relatives in Nepal who want to give information, can use these channels. Citizens are also asked to register through the Department of Consular Services’ urgent-rescue portal, which helps officials collect details about people who may need support.

How the system was built

The ministry announced the arrangements in early 2026 in response to security concerns in the region:

  • March 4: The ministry announced an Emergency Response Team and plans for a 24-hour control room, with coordination through Nepali missions.
  • March 10: It reported about 61,989 registrations on its online system by that evening. This is a historical figure, not a current count.
  • March 12: It described plans for rapid-response task forces involving Nepali missions, Non-Resident Nepali Association networks and community groups in West Asia and Africa.

The Emergency Response Team is coordinated by the Foreign Secretary. It brings together the foreign affairs, home affairs, labour and tourism authorities, along with the Department of Consular Services and the Department of Foreign Employment.

What the system does and does not promise

A control room is a channel for information and coordination. It does not by itself show that an evacuation is under way, or that every request can be solved quickly. What help is possible depends on the person’s circumstances, local conditions and cooperation from the host country’s authorities.

Nepali who need help should contact the ministry or the nearest Nepali mission, follow official instructions, and check the latest notices from the ministry and the relevant embassy before making travel decisions.

What this means for Nepali abroad

For Nepali in the region, the practical step is to register and save the numbers now, before they are needed. Families in Nepal can use the same contacts to share information about a relative.

Why it matters

Many Nepalis live and work across West Asia, including the Gulf countries. When a security situation changes, families at home often rely on official channels for reliable information.
