The party announced on today, 15 October, Thursday that it has launched the “Municipal Candidate Club”, a channel for would-be nominees. It is taking applications for four posts: mayor, deputy mayor, ward chairperson and ward member.
How to apply
Applications are being collected through the party’s official mobile app. Interested people need to log in there and submit their application. The party attached a link to its notice https://rspnepal.page.link/app. Applicants are expected to apply in their own municipality.
The notice covers both the top and the grassroots of municipal politics. Mayor and deputy mayor are the leading roles in a municipality, while ward chairperson and ward member posts sit at ward level. The party says the exercise is part of its wider effort to find possible candidates for local government posts before the elections.
The announcement does not promise anyone a ticket. Sending in an application does not make a person an RSP candidate. Who ends up on the official list will depend on the party’s nomination process and criteria.
