Nepal Police's Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) raided the All Nepal Football Association's (ANFA) headquarters in Satdobato on Friday, seizing documents as part of an undisclosed investigation. CIB spokesperson SSP Anupam Shamsher confirmed the raid but gave no details on the allegations involved.
CIB spokesperson and Senior Superintendent of Police Anupam Shamsher confirmed the raid took place at the ANFA office on Friday. The bureau took control of documents it considers necessary for its investigation.
The raid lands at an already difficult moment for Nepali football as ANFA has been suspended by FIFA since June 2026 adding a fresh layer of scrutiny onto an organization already outside international football's good graces.
ANFA is currently led by Pankaj Bikram Nembang, who has served as president since June 2022 and also holds the position of Deputy Chairperson of the AFC Development Committee. The association was founded in 1951.
Previously as well, ANFA's leadership has faced corruption scrutiny. In 2014, Nepal's Parliamentary Public Accounts Committee directed the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) to probe then president Ganesh Thapa over financial irregularities, including a $100,000 deposit into his son's personal bank account. Thapa briefly stepped down, later returned, and was eventually handed a ten-year FIFA ban.
The raid raises fresh questions about ANFA's internal governance.
Further details on the investigation are expected to be released as the CIB's work progresses; no timeline has been given.
