Nepal's national cricket team has headed to Oman for the last four matches of its ICC Men's Cricket World Cup League 2 campaign. The team needs a strong finish. It sits seventh in the eight-team table with 24 points from 32 matches.
The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) announced a 15-member squad on October 2,2026, and held a farewell for the team on October 4. CAN president Chatur Bahadur Chand and secretary Paras Khadka were among the officials who wished the players well.
All four matches will be played at A1 Amerat Cricket Ground, Ministry Turf 1:
October 11: Nepal vs Canada
October 13: Nepal vs Oman
October 17: Nepal vs Canada
October 19: Nepal vs Oman
Matches start at 11:00 a.m. in Oman which is about 11:45 a.m. in Nepal.
Nepal has won 11 matches, lost 19 and had two no-results.Canada is sixth with 25 points, one more than Nepal. Oman is fourth with 31. The top of the table is Scotland with 45, the United States with 43 and the Netherlands with 38. Namibia has 28, and the UAE has 18.
Under ICC rules, the top four teams go straight to the 2027 Cricket World Cup Qualifier. The bottom four go to the Qualifier Play-off, which is a harder route but does not end their World Cup hopes. Nepal can reach at most 32 points by winning all four games. A top-four finish is possible but would also need other teams to drop points.
Nepal's last League 2 trip was to the Netherlands in July, where it lost all four matches. At home earlier this year, in April and May, it won six of eight. Nepal has been stronger at home than away.
For the squad, Sandeep Lamichhane is captain. He was named for the position one-day side in August, replacing Rohit Paudel. The whole squad is Sandeep Lamichhane ( captain), Aasif Sheikh (wicketkeeper), Dipendra Singh Airee, Dev Khanal, Ishan Pandey, Rohit Paudel, Arjun Kumal, Sundeep Jora, Gulshan Jha, Basir Ahmad, Karan KC, Nandan Yadav, Lalit Rajbanshi, Shahab Alam, Sher Mallla.
