Nepal's Sabita Rai finished 10th out of 12 competitors in the women's Taijiquan and Taijijian wushu events at the 20th Asian Games, scoring 9.183 points at Aichi Prefectural Martial Arts Hall in Japan.
China's Qin Tong won gold with 9.783, Japan's Shiho Saito claimed silver with 9.740 points, while Singapore's Jian Zhi Ning Lau and Brunei's Basma Lachkar shared bronze with matching scores of 9.740 and 9.720 points respectively.
Nepal's Vijay Sinjali was also eliminated in the men's Changquan event the same day.
Wushu runs September 20-24 at these Games, with competition split across taolu (forms) and sanda (combat) disciplines. Nepal fielded 10 athletes across the sport's various events, part of the country's broader 135-athlete Asian Games delegation.
Rai actually medaled (silver) in this exact event a decade ago at the 2016 South Asian Games , her 10th-place finish here reflects how much tougher the field gets at the continental level compared to South Asia alone.
