Nepal Telecom (NTC) has launched a one-year fibre internet package for Rs 4,999. It looks cheap at first glance, but the details decide whether it suits your home.
The state-owned company lists the deal as the “30Mbps Festive Offer 2083”. It runs on NT Fiber, gives a 30 Mbps connection and has been effective since October 16, 2026, according to the company’s information and its official offer page.
What you get for Rs 4,999
The price covers 12 months of service. Installation is free, and up to 100 metres of drop fibre is included at no cost. NTC says the listed tariff already includes taxes.
Divide the annual price by 12 and you get roughly Rs 417 a month. However, you pay the full amount for the year, not in monthly instalments.
The fine print
The most important limit is a daily fair-use policy (FUP) of 30 GB. Once you cross it, the speed falls from 30 Mbps to 5 Mbps. So the advertised speed is not guaranteed all day.
The package also comes with no bonus mobile data.
A home with several people streaming video, joining online classes or downloading large files could reach 30 GB in a day. A small household with lighter use may never notice the limit. Higher-speed annual packages
NTC has also announced annual packages for NT Fiber users on its Wi-Fi 6 offering. The prices are:
30 Mbps: Rs 4,999
100 Mbps: Rs 11,499
150 Mbps: Rs 12,999
200 Mbps: Rs 16,499
The 100, 150 and 200 Mbps packages are internet-and-telephone offers.
Why the timing matters
The launch comes as some private internet service providers have withdrawn or revised their lower-priced, lower-speed plans. That makes a cheaper state-backed option interesting for students, small households and budget-conscious users.
Background: how fibre packages are sold
Fibre packages in Nepal typically combine a speed tier with a validity period and a usage policy. The headline speed is only part of the picture. The fair-use limit, the speed after that limit and any renewal terms affect the real value. That is why the details on NTC’s offer page are worth reading before you pay.
What to check before you subscribe
- Whether the offer is open to all new and existing customers, and in which areas
- When the 30 GB limit resets each day, and how usage is measured
- What equipment is supplied, and whether any charges apply beyond the advertised tariff
- What happens at renewal after 12 months
Customers should confirm these with NTC before paying.
