As of 8:00 AM Thursday, 1,409 bodies have been recovered from the Bhote Koshi flood disaster out of which 1,407 were found across the affected districts, plus two additional deaths during treatment in Kathmandu, according to the latest Nepal Police update.
The toll has climbed by 13 since Monday night's count of 1,396, while the missing figure 4,089 and holding-center population have both held steady or dropped slightly, suggesting recovery work is slowing even as identification efforts continue at scale.
District wise breakdown of the bodies found so far:
Chitwan 364 ,Nawalparasi East 232 ,Nawalparasi West 222 ,Nuwakot 202 ,Rasuwa 199 , Gorkha 78 ,Dhading 72, Tanahun 38plus 2 more who died during treatment in Kathmandu, bringing the total to 1,409. Among these, 1,237 bodies have now been safely managed through temporary burial, with identification still pending for most.
DNA sample collection total has risen to 3,200 total 1,286 from the bodies and 1,914 from relatives, up from 3,147 on Monday. Details of 1,361 unidentified bodies remain uploaded to the Nepal Police website for families to check. Police mobilization remains steady at 7,975 personnel for rescue, search, relief distribution and body-management work.
