Nearing a month update of the Bhotekoshi flood

As search and identification work continues in Rasuwa, Nuwakot and the districts downstream , the latest death count reaches to 1453 with thousands still being searched for.

As of 11:00am Thursday, a total of 1,453 bodies have been reccovered according to Nepal Police with search options still continuing for 4,718 people still misising.

Of the total bodies recovered so far, 236 were from Rasuwa,204 in Nuwakot, 72 in Dhading,368 in Chitwan, 79 in Gorkha, 38 in Tanahun, 232 in Nawalparasi East and 222 in Nawalparasi west and additional of two deaths during treatment in Kathmandu.

The death toll can be observed rising slowly and steadily rather than the sharp jumps in the past few weeks.

For the identification purposes, 1,333 recovered bodies have completed the DNA sample collection process and have been safely buried. A total of 3,364 DNA samples have been collected with total of 1,329 from the deceased and 2,035 from the relatives of the missing or deceased.

Search operations are still ongoing for 4,718 missing. Holding centres across various districts currently shelter 1,280 people.

A total of 7,975 police personnel have been mobilized for rescue, search, relief distribution and body management related work in the flood affected areas .
