PM Shah urges to stay alert for the heavy rainfall forecast

Nepal's Meteorological Department has forecast heavy to very heavy rain amidst thunder and strong winds from Ashoj 9 to 11. PM Shah, currently in New York for UNGA, warns everyone near rivers, landslide-prone slopes and flood zones to take it seriously.

PM Shah urges to stay alert for the heavy rainfall forecast

Prime Minister Balendra Shah has urged Nepalis to remain alert ahead of the forecast of Nepal's Meteorological Department of heavy to very heavy rain, expected from Asoj 9-11.

Shah has issued the warning via Facebook while he is currently in New York for UNGA.

The forecast also has warned for thunder,lightning, strong winds and heavy to very heavy rain across Gandaki, Lumbini, Koshi, Bagmati, Madhesh, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces.

PM has also urged special caution for people residing in landslide and flood prone areas near rivers, warned to stay safe from possible flooding, landslides, debris flow, inundation and disruption to road and air transport.

PM has urged people to postpone trekking, monitor weather updates reegularly, follow directives and to stay safe and alert following all the necessary precautions.

He also stated that relevant agencies are asked to prepare, coordinate and setup early-warning arrangements from the governments side. Such alert from PM comes weeks after criticism that the government failed to communicate adequately via social during Bhotekoshi flood.
