Nepal Rastra Bank has invited international bids to design, mint, supply and deliver 400 million 9(40 crore) Rs1 circulation coins.
The bank's Currency Management Department (CMD) in Thapathali, Kathmandu, issued the notice today on October 4, 2026. The contract also covers related services.
WHO CAN BID?Only security minting companies on NRB's pre-qualified list can take part. The bank published that list on March 12,2026. NRB is seeking sealed bids under International Competitive Bidding, using a single-stage, two-envelope method. The tender is lister as IFB No. NRB/CMD/COINS/ICB/G-01/083/84.
The bank said it intends to use part of its own funds to cover for eligible payments under the contract.
Key dates and conditions
Buying bid documents: Until November 2,2026, from the CMD office in Thapathali or the Minting Division in Babarmahal, Kathmandu.
Bid deadline: 12:00 noon Nepal Standard Time on November 3,2026, delivered by hand or courier to the CMD office
Bid opening:1:00 PM on November 3, 2026
Bid validity: 120 days from the bid opening date
Bid security: At least USD 148,000 with each bid
