Background/ History on the changing of note:
However, this isn't the first time the 1000 Rs note has changed. Since the monarchy's abolition, in 2008, previous royal portrait was replaced with national landmark. At first Mount Everest was featured alone, then addition of twin elephant was done later on. The elephant imagery has also had to corrected as the note prior to this "Series 2019" which came in ciruclation since Shrawan 7, 2077 featured elephant which was an African elephant instead of Nepal's native Asian elephant species.
The "Series 2019" remains valid and legal so there is no need of rush to exchange older notes.
